A Summer to Remember for Raymundo
Coming off an indoor U16 Tier 1 Provincial gold finish with Eclipse East at RIM Park on April 1, summer started off quite well for Chanel Raymundo.
With the days of summer signalling beach volleyball season, Chanel Raymundo & Cadence Currie both of Scarborough, decided to dig their heels in their backyard practice court at Centennial Public School to hone their skills and determination. Their goal was to try and repeat what they have attained in the summer of 2010.
With diligence and patience their efforts were rewarded against the formidable pair of Chakeris and Marcus. They were able to capture gold at U16 Beach Provincials in Aug. 4/5, 2012.
Not content at resting after the grueling provincial championship, Chanel set her sights on the Ontario Summer Games (OSG), trying out with her 2011 beach partner, Samantha Beltran, to represent Region 5. Skill and luck prevailed, they were in. With the guidance & mentoring of her Region 5 coachesm Chanel was paired up with Alexandra Polleto, a strong offensive hitter from Toronto.
Practicing three times a week in preparation for that significant event, Chanel and Alexandra jelled and were able to adapt and adjust to every opponent they faced.
Hard work paid off as they captured gold against their regional teammates of Samantha Beltran and Gabriela Maciagowski capping off a summer to remember.
