Canada lost to the U.S., 25-9, 25-20, 25-22 on Wednesday in its opening match at the Pan Am women’s sitting volleyball championships. The tournament winner earns a ticket to the 2012 Paralympic Games in London.

Former CIS All-Canadian John Barrett has been appointed interim head coach of the Varsity Blues men’s volleyball team.

Mexico defeated Canada 22-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-22 in the fifth place match on Saturday NORCECA (North and Central America and Caribbean) Continental women’s volleyball championships.
