Taking it Outside

There’s always been indoor volleyball in the winter or pickup outdoor volleyball in the summer. Now, there’s an attempt at organizing outdoor beach volleyball play in Brockville, Prescott and Iroquois.

Jo Ellen Bauder is working at setting up Rural Eastern Ontario Volleyball.

The beach volleyball league will operate at TISS in Brockville on Tuesday and Thursday at 5 p.m., in Prescott on Sundays and in Iroquois on Thursday nights.

It can be two or three-person teams, co-ed or not, and she is looking for players 16 years of age and older.

She also plans on running a youth program for younger athletes at South Grenville District High School on Sundays from noon to 3 p.m.

The volleyball will begin in Prescott on Sunday, June 20 in the afternoon. The first two weeks will be exhibition or pickup and then she will set up the league.

The cost will be $20 for the season that will run until the championship tournament on either Sunday, August 8 or Sunday, August 15.
