Sisters Beach Battle

Niki Bozinoski and Tia Miric: Gold and Silver medalists
The opening weekend of the OVA Beach Tour brought two great days of sunny skies, hot temperatures and even hotter sand. The heat did not prove to be a problem for the new team of Niki Bozinoski and Tia Miric as they were successful in winning medals on both days of competition. Saturday was a long day for the girls with the gold medal match starting after 6 pm. Bozinoski and Miric won 14U Gold Premier Division in two games straight over the team of Cooke and Little.
On Sunday, the duo began the day ranked eighth in U16 Premier Division. After finishing first in their pool and winning three straight playoff matches they were headed for the gold medal match. A curve was thrown Bozinoski’s way. Now she was to face the 2009 16U National Champions; her older sister Nova and her partner Sydney Krizmanich. The first game went to the reigning champs 21-19. Niki Bozinoski and Tia Miric answered with a game two win of 21-17. The final game, although well fought, went to the more experienced team of big sister Bozinoski and Krizmanich.
Congratulations to both sisters on a great day. Kudos as well goes to the Krizmanich sisters as big sister Kaitlyn and her partner Caleigh Whitaker won the Women’s Elite Division on Saturday.
