Bansley & Rodrigue undefeated in Beirut
OTTAWA – Heather Bansley of Waterdown, Ont., and Julie Rodrigue of Quebec City remained undefeated in beach volleyball on Wednesday at the Francophone Games being held this week in Beirut, Lebanon.
Bansley and Rodrigue upped their record to four wins and no losses with victories over pairs from Egypt and Niger.
Marie-Christine Mondor and Isabelle Rancourt are also undefeated for Canada-Quebec as they beat Switzerland and the Seychelles Islands to move to 3-0.
On the men’s side, Jessi Lelliott of Kelowna, B.C., and Ben Saxton of Calgary lost their first match of the tournament falling to France. Lelliott and Saxton had opened the tournament with two victories. François-Guy Allaire and Simon Fecteau-Boutin are 3-0 for Canada-Quebec after a victory over the Ivory Coast.
