Bright Future on the Beach

Our first warm and sunny weekend, Aug. 1-2, the OVA hosted Provincial Championships at Ashbridges Bay in Toronto, for 12U-16U male and female beach athletes. Over 210 teams battled in their age divisions for the chance to be a Provincial Champion.

Fuchs, Castura Win Awards

Two members of the Mountain Athletic Club have been recognized by the Ontario Volleyball Association.
MAC’s 18U girls’coach Mike Fuchs and volleyball media co-ordinator Nancy Castura were recipients of Volunteer Recognition Awards at the recent Ontario Volleyball Association’s OVAtion Banquet for long-time service.

RTTC Success

Ontario Volleyball held two very successful 2009 Regional Team Training Centres (RTTC) at Humber College, in Etobicoke in July. The girl’s training centre was held from July 16-19, and the boy’s from July 19-22. Junior Men at Junior Worlds

The Canadian junior men’s volleyball team won their first match against Poland Friday in the FIVB Junior World Championships, being held in Pune, India, from July 31 – Aug. 9. The team was competing in a very tough pool that included past gold medal winners Brazil, Russia and Poland.
