Mac Players Face Busy Summer
Five McMaster Marauders have earned spots on provincial and national men’s volleyball teams this summer.
Left-side hitter Josh Lichty has been selected to Team Canada’s squad which will compete at the Federation de Volleyball Under-21 Men’s World Championships in Pune, India. That event runs from July 31-Aug. 9.
Four other Mac student-athletes are scheduled to represent their respective provinces at the Aug. 15-29 Canada Summer Games in Prince Edward Island. Right-side player Jeremy Groenveld, along with middle blockers Shawn Bench and Tyler Santoni, are on Team Ontario’s roster, while Mac recruit Kevin Stevens has been selected to Team Manitoba.
Mac is the two-time defending Ontario University Athletics volleyball champion.
Marauders’ fourth-place finish at the Canadian university championships this past season was the highest in the program’s history.
