Pan Am Cup
Canada’s National Men’s Volleyball Team will kick off their 2009 international season at the 4th Annual Pan American Cup in Chiapas, Mexico June 13 – 21. The tournament features powerful teams including Puerto Rico, Mexico, Panama, Guatemala, Dominican Republic and USA.
This will be the first international competition for men’s team since their move earlier this spring to Gatineau, QC.
“The team is looking forward to this competition and has been training very hard since the tryout camp in April,” said Head Coach Georges Laplante. “We decided to go with a young team so this would be an important step for Canada to play the top teams in the world and to help in our progression to improve to a higher level,” continued Laplante.
Canada will play against the Dominican Republic today, June 15, then against USA on Wed., June 17 to try and clinch a spot in the quarterfinals.
