Glenn Hoag, the Men’s National Team coach, has agreed to continue as coach for an additional eight years. Hoag has extended his contract after being signed in 2006 as head coach of the team.

“We are very happy to have Glenn back to lead the program into the next two Olympic Games,” said John-Paul Cody-Cox, Executive Director of Volleyball Canada. “His experience and professionalism have proved to be an enormous asset for our national team and the respect he commands from the players is garnering great results.”

Hoag, a former member of Canada’s National Team (1981-86), was an integral part of the program when they produced Canada’s best ever result finishing 4th at the 1984 Summer Olympics. Since that time he has had a successful professional career as a player and as a coach. Glenn has coached for professional teams in Europe, most notably Paris Volley in France where he led the team to a historic Triple-Crown victory winning the French Cup, European Champions Cup, and French Championship. He also had success as an assistant with the French National Team program and coached at the Université de Sherbrooke.

Over the past two years Hoag has rebuilt the Men’s National Team roster with a mixture accomplished veterans and fresh talent. The National Team has completed its move to Gatineau, QC, where the team is preparing for the upcoming World Championship Qualifiers.

“I’m very excited to see where we can go with this team,” Hoag said. “Over the past two years we’ve been preparing our younger athletes for international caliber competition. We are eager to go out there and test ourselves against the best in the world. I’m proud to be able to continue working with such outstanding athletes.”
