MAC 14U Clinch National Gold
Representing Ontario at the Eastern Canadian Open 14U Championships, Hamilton (MAC) Volleyball 14U Boys clinched the Gold medal in Moncton, New Brunswick on the weekend.
Placing first in their pool, MAC defeated: Carrefour de l’Acadie (Dieppe, NB) 25-14 and 27-25 with Marcus Wu scored 8 points in a row; the Reds Albert St. Eagles (Fredricton, NB) 25-12 and 25-11 and the West Prince Islanders (PEI) 25-13 and 25-13
On day 2, MAC continued their undefeated streak by beating the Extreme (Richibucto, NB) 25-17 and 25-4; the Carrefour de l’Acadie (Dieppe, NB) 25-10 and 25-14 and the Celtique (Montreal, Que) 25-22 and 25-15. Brendan Kewin had 5 kills, 4 blocks and served for 5 points with Marcus Wu serving 3 aces.
In the quarter finals, MAC defeated the West Prince Islanders 25-13 and 25-15. Marcus Wu served 5 aces in the first set; Hamilton’s Brandon Gomes striking for 5 points.
In the semifinals, MAC once again faced Extreme (Richibucto, NB) winning 2-0, 25-13 and 25-11. Brendan Kewin was good for 10 points and Marcus Wu led with 7 blocks.
In the Gold medal match, MAC won in three sets against Carrefour de l’Acadie of Dieppe, NB 25-16, 20-25 and 15-6.
