Honouring Kelly Smith

Kelly Smith the founder and organizer of the Pakmen Volleyball Club in Mississauga has been honoured with the government of Ontario Premier’s Award for Teaching Excellence. This is well deserved as Kelly is solely responsible for one of the most successful volleyball clubs in Canada.

The Pakmen Volleyball club has won numerous provincial and national championships and developed some of Ontario’s top players. Smith has also created one of the biggest volleyball leagues in Canada offering programs ranging from kids to adults including the Onatrio Volleyball’s SPIKES program. But most importantly, he has introduced many of the ethnic communities to the sport of volleyball and helped motivate the lives of countless underprivileged youths to find direction through volleyball, even when they had no money, no family support and no where to turn. He has devoted much of his time and money to help any child no matter the age or skill level. He is now no longer an unsung hero of the kids of Ontario. A well deserved honour indeed.
