McLellan Poised to Break Record
Six games, 83 points. Basic numbers, really.
Still, they hold some magic for Meagan McLellan.
“It’s within reach,” the captain of the Georgian Grizzlies varsity women’s volleyball team said. “I hope I can get that record.”
Former Nipissing stalwart Megan Stacey holds the OCAA record for most points in a season with 308.
McLellan, a Barrie native, sits at 225.
Six games and 83 points is all that separates Meagan and Megan from sharing a page in the record books.
Eighty four points would give McLellan a page of her own.
“She will not be off that floor,” said Brad Graham, head coach of the Grizzlies, who open a final six-game regular- season stretch against the Durham Lords tommorow night at Georgian College. “She’s gonna finish it up.”
McLellan, who is in her fifth and final season with the Grizzlies, needs to average 14 points per game from here on out. If she can manage that — which she’s been able to do through the first 15 games of the season — she’ll finish with 309 points.
She’ll make history.
