CIS in Florida
The Women’s Western Mustangs finished in third place at the Innisbrook Invitational Volleyball Tournament in Clearwater, Florida, defeating Calgary in five sets in the bronze medal game on Dec. 31.
After defeating CIS ranked No.10 McGill 3-1 in the quarter-final game, Western fell 3-1 to CIS ranked No.4 Manitoba (24-26,15-25, 28-26, 23-25) to qualify for the bronze-medal game.
Dropping the first two games of the match to CIS ranked No.3 Calgary 24-26 and16-25, Western fought back to win three straight (25-21, 25-16 and 15-12) to earn the medal.
Western hosts Windsor on Jan. 8 at Alumni Hall at 6 p.m. to resume the OUA schedule in 2009.
