Exceptional Athlete of CIS
Greg Stewart (7 feet 1 inch) played basketball with only one hand; he wore a paddle type prosthesis on his other arm to assist with rebounding and catching. He currently plays for the Canadian National Paralympic standing men’s volleyball team and is red-shirting for this year’s men’s volleyball team for Thompson Rivers University. So this season he should become a dual sport player at the varsity level in the CIS.
Canadian university sports has a long history of varsity athletes with disabilities excelling on the playing fields, arenas, courts, and pools competing with and against their able bodied team mates and opponents.
