Janssen-Cowley Secure Ninth

Canadian women’s duo, Kaila Janssen and Victoria Cowley finished ninth at the 2008 FIVB Junior World Beach Championships which took place in Britain’s favourite seaside city, Brighton, September 3-7, 2008.
Bikinis gave way to leggings and long sleeves as heavy rain and strong winds swept through, with matches being played regardless.
You cannot play beach volleyball on Brighton’s pebbles, so more than 1,100 tonnes of sand were shipped in for the event and a temporary stadium, the Yellowave beach sports centre was constructed.
In early round robin play the 19th ranked Canadians faced off against a team from Great Britain winning easily 21-10, 21-7.
