Helping First Nations Youth
Ottawa Valley resident Krista Johnson is trying to help first nations youth from thousands of kilometers away.
Recently, she organized a tri-sport tournament at Fellowes High School, where people came together to play volleyball, basketball and ultimate frisbee to raise money for the youth of Kasabonika Lake First Nation. Approximately $300 was raised by participants.
Kasabonika is a reserve in remote northwestern Ontario, with a population of approximately 800 residents, a school, a church and a store.
