Nipissing to Host CCAA Best

The finest collegiate women’s volleyball teams in Canada will be at Nipissing University this March competing for gold medal glory in the 2009 Canadian Collegiate Athletics Association (CCAA) Women’s National Volleyball Championships.
Nipissing University will be the host institution for the championships, taking place March 12-14, 2009.
The three day championship tournament will feature eight teams from across Canada, including the host Nipissing University Lakers.
“Nipissing is very proud and excited to be selected as the host institution of the National Championships. This is a very prestigious event that allows us to showcase our university on a national scale,” said Vito Castiglione, Nipissing’s manager of sports and recreation and tournament chair. “It is going to be a great experience for our team and our fans, as well as, the entire city.”
“This year’s team is really looking forward to starting the season knowing that we’ll be hosting the national championships,” said Marc LaRochelle, head coach of the Nipissing University Lakers Women’s Volleyball team. “Nipissing hosted the provincial championships in 2005 and we’ve enjoyed a lot of success on the court with a provincial gold medal in 2007, so we’ve developed an excellent reputation for women’s volleyball.”Our team looks forward to continuing that tradition of excellence.”
Nipissing will also broadcast all the action via the internet for fans across the country to watch these high calibre volleyball matches.
