Life Throws Curve at Stratford Teen
Ben Elliott was supposed to be back in high school this year leading the Central Secondary School senior boys volleyball team on court as the Rams’ captain.
Instead, the 18-year-old is battling a rare cancer. He’s got a new team in his court now.
“I’ve got a team of five doctors plus a nurse practitioner,” the outgoing young man said at his family’s home in Stratford during a weekend interview.
Ben saw his life turned upside down almost overnight in mid-August after being diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia or ALL -Â a cancer of the blood and bone marrow.
